Josh               Freeman               is               a               young               man               to               keep               an               eye               on               during               the               2009               NFL               draft.

In               high               school,               he               passed               for               over               7,000               yards               as               a               prep               at               Grandview               High               School               in               Missouri               and               was               also               ranked               the               top               player               in               the               state.

After               graduating               early               from               high               school,               he               became               the               first               player               at               Kansas               State               to               start               as               a               freshman               since               1976.

At               6'6"               and               238               lbs.

he               has               a               strong,               impressive               arm               which               helped               him               through               a               record               setting               sophomore               season               as               a               Kansas               State               University               Wildcat.

He               also               holds               the               major               passing               records               as               a               Wildcat.

Although               last               year               it               appeared               he               could               be               in               the               first               round               of               draft               picks,               it               is               more               likely               to               be               early               in               the               second               round               that               he               will               be               snatched               up               due               to               some               inconsistencies               in               his               playing.

It               appears               that               he               does               have               the               potential               to               learn               a               better               focus               once               in               the               NFL               to               help               him               accomplish               greater               goals.

Keep               in               mind               that               this               young               man               may               still               learn               a               few               things               since               he               decided               to               leave               Kansas               State               after               his               junior               season               to               head               to               the               NFL               based               on               the               feedback               he               received               from               the               NFL's               College               Advisory               Board.

If               it               wasn't               as               reasonable               as               it               turned               out,               he               probably               would               have               stayed               at               Kansas               State               for               another               season.
Here               are               some               stats               that               you               can               compare               to               other               players.

He               has               thrown               for               44               touchdowns               to               date,               however               20               of               those               were               in               the               2008               season.

We               also               have               to               consider               the               34               interceptions               he               threw.

Also,               in               2008,               he               attempted               382               passes               and               completed               224               for               a               total               of               2,945               yards.

He               appears               to               have               an               incredibly               strong               arm,               however               his               record               for               turnovers               could               be               one               of               his               biggest               obstacles.
According               to               nfldraftscout.com,               he               is               currently               ranked               at               #3               for               a               second               round               pick.

He's               got               his               work               cut               out               for               him               and               will               have               to               out               shine               several               others               during               the               combine               and               interview               processes.

If               he               can               impress               and               make               it               in               the               first               round               draft               pick,               I               think               New               York               Jets               could               likely               snatch               him               up               to               take               over               for               Brett               Favre.

However,               with               a               new               coach               and               a               new               outlook,               I               wouldn't               mind               seeing               a               fresh               face               that               could               learn               with               our               new               coach               right               here               in               Tampa               with               the               Buccaneers               which               could               be               where               he               lands               if               New               York               doesn't               take               him.

But               the               2011               season               will               be               different.

It               is               really               a               whole               new               team.

One               thing               i               have               learned               while               watching               the               Chargers               is...

They               are               not               a               first               half               team.

Cedric               Griffin               will               be               healthy               and               so               will               Chris               Cook.

    but               im               not.

I               think               the               Lions               will               give               the               Vikings               there               first               loss               of               the               seasons.

There               line               will               make               there               LB's               and               CB's               look               amazing.

I               don't               think               the               Vikings               will               get               blown               out               but               they               will               not               win.

This               proved               an               inaccurate               theorem               in               describing               Sunday's               contest,               as               the               losing               Buccaneers               actually               produced               the               game's               only               turnovers               via               a               2nd               quarter               interception               by               Ronde               Barber               and               a               4th               quarter               fumble               recovery               by               Gerald               McCoy.

Yet,               each               takeaway               produced               only               field               goals               and               those               lost               points               directly               hampered               victory.

Failure               to               find               the               end-zone               following               Barber's               pick               was               especially               frustrating.

Lack               of               Pressure               on               Matt               Ryan               --               Despite               gains               by               Coach               Greg               Schiano               on               the               team's               defensive               line,               the               Bucs               continue               struggling               to               put               pressure               on               opposing               signal               callers.

Lost               to               a               season-ending               injury               in               Week               3,               last               year's               top               pass               rusher               Adrian               Clayborn               is               clearly               missed.

Matt               Ryan               remained               largely               untouched               on               Sunday               and               completed               a               highly               efficient               26               of               32               passes.

Teams               rarely               lose               when               a               quarterback               completes               over               80%               of               passes,               as               it               is               an               indication               that               the               thrower               is               not               under               adequate               pressure.

In               fact,               when               Ryan               was               touched               on               a               corner               blitz               by               Biggers,               he               fumbled.

That               4th               quarter               effort               was               sadly               the               Bucs'               sole               sack               of               the               game.

While               Schiano's               defense               gets               credit               for               creativity,               it               only               worked               because               the               Falcons               missed               proper               protection.

Tampa               Bay's               league-leading               run               defense               again               performed               nobly               in               limiting               Atlanta               to               79               yards,               but               the               unit               must               produce               more               stress               on               quarterbacks.
                   5.

Missed               FG               in               the               4th               Quarter               --               Fans               cannot               rightfully               blame               this               loss               on               Connor               Barth's               errant               4th               quarter               56               yard               field               goal.

The               Bucs'               kicker               actually               enjoyed               a               strong               day,               converting               3               of               4               attempts,               including               a               48               yard               boot               in               the               final               frame.

Additionally,               Barth               looked               better               than               his               rival,               former               Buccaneer               Matt               Bryant,               who               missed               on               2               of               3               attempts,               including               an               embarrassing               23               yard               try.

However,               it               must               be               noted               that               the               Bucs               would               have               seized               a               26-24               lead               with               less               than               4               minutes               to               play               if               Barth's               kick               were               good.

Perhaps               Schiano               can               be               questioned               for               overly               trusting               his               kicker               and               not               instead               pursuing               a               4th               down               attempt.

Indeed,               he               may               execute               a               different               decision               when               this               situation               is               again               encountered.

But               Barth               is               a               respectable               4               of               7               from               beyond               50               yards               in               2012,               including               a               brilliant               57               yarder.

So               it               remains               a               close               call,               but               also               one               that               backfired               in               defeat.
