               Position:               Quarterback
               Fantasy               Football               Outlook:

Like               many               other               quarterbacks               who               have               been               drafted               #1               overall               in               the               NFL               draft               over               the               years,               Matthew               Stafford               enters               the               2009               season               with               a               very               high               billing.

Entering               the               2009               NFL               season,               Matthew               Stafford               is               firmly               entrenched               as               the               Lions               quarterback               of               the               future.

Yet               at               just               age               21               for               the               2009               season,               Matthew               Stafford               will               likely               ride               the               bench               for               at               least               the               first               half               of               his               rookie               year               in               2009.

Unless               of               course               Matthew               Stafford               pulls               a               Matt               Ryan               and               has               an               exceptional               training               camp               and               preseason,               which               would               in               turn               catapult               him               into               the               starting               QB               job               by               week               1.
In               terms               of               a               future               fantasy               football               outlook,               Matthew               Stafford               encompasses               the               talent               to               be               a               Pro-Bowl               quarterback,               likely               by               the               2012               season.

However               combining               Stafford's               enormous               talent               and               golden               arm               with               Calvin               Johnson               and               up               and               coming               running               back               Kevin               Smith               and               tight               end               Brandon               Pettigrew,               Matthew               Stafford               does               have               a               slight               chance               to               become               a               very               good               NFL               quarterback               sooner               than               many               expect.

So               a               late               2009               emergence               is               possible               for               Matthew               Stafford               in               his               rookie               season.

During               the               prime               of               his               career,               Matthew               Stafford               has               the               potential               to               by               a               30               touchdown               QB.
               Keeper               League               Incentive:

When               compared               to               fellow               2009               first               round               picks               Mark               Sanchez               and               Josh               Freeman,               Matthew               Stafford               no               doubt               has               the               better               overall               talent               and               long               term               potential.

However               if               you               want               an               earlier               return               on               your               rookie               QB               investment,               Mark               Sanchez               will               likely               receive               more               playing               time               in               2009               than               Matthew               Stafford.
               2009               Expectations:
With               Daunte               Culpepper               his               only               real               competition               for               the               starting               QB               job               in               Detroit               for               the               2009               season,               Matthew               Stafford               could               very               easily               earn               playing               time               in               his               rookie               year.

At               just               age               21,               Stafford's               fantasy               football               stat               expectations               are               extremely               low,               as               he               will               likely               need               at               least               one               season               of               just               sitting               back               and               learning               the               Lions               offense               and               the               intricacies               of               the               NFL               game.
